Bagheera

Plot Summary:
Vedanth Prabhakar (Sriimurali) is a police officer who follows the rules closely. When he can’t help those in need, he puts on a mask and becomes a vigilante to seek justice. But how long can he keep his secret identity hidden?

Review:
In 2001, a young boy dressed as his favorite superhero jumps off a building to see if he has powers but ends up breaking his leg. His mother (Sudharani), who reads superhero comics with him, tells him that not all heroes wear capes; some come out of nowhere to help others. She uses her husband, a police officer (Achyut Kumar), as an example of someone who brings justice.

The boy grows up to be Vedanth Prabhakar (Sriimurali), a gold medalist eager to serve his community. However, the tough reality of police work quickly changes his views. Following his father’s advice to wear a mask and stay out of trouble, he becomes Bagheera, a vigilante who fights evil.

Bagheera brings a new superhero to the Kannada film industry. He is very strong, fast, and good at dodging bullets while making sure his shots hit their mark. His character is inspired by Hollywood superheroes but made for Kannada audiences. Bagheera wears a mask, uses special weapons, and rides a powerful bike.

The story, written by Prashanth Neel, known for KGF and Salaar, has eight chapters. The first chapter can feel slow and predictable, but the second chapter, where he becomes the superhero, is much more exciting. This chapter really stands out, while the others follow a typical pattern, leading to a showdown between the hero and the villain. The film also reflects themes from KGF, showing a longing for a savior.

Sriimurali does a great job as both Vedanth and Bagheera, bringing energy to his roles, especially in action scenes. However, some other characters can seem predictable as the story goes on. Rukmini Vasanth plays his girlfriend, a doctor who treats his injuries, but her role is mostly to support him. It’s important for writers to avoid showing unnecessary violence against female characters, especially when the hero is supposed to support women’s empowerment.

Supporting roles by Rangayana Raghu, Prakash Rai, Avinash, and Pramod Shetty are well done. Ramachandra Raju, as the villain Rana, adds a strong presence as a tough opponent.

Director Dr. Suri blends a commercial film style with superhero elements, taking audiences on an interesting journey. He brings out the best in Sriimurali, and Ajaneesh Loknath’s music enhances the film, with songs that fit nicely into the story.
